Welcome to Read Sixth Form
Thank you for your interest in Read School Sixth Form. You can be certain of a warm welcome from both pupils and staff, so you will soon feel part of our school community.
Sixth Formers at Read are valued for the role they play in promoting the values of the school. Younger pupils treat the Sixth Formers with respect and admiration. Hard work and high personal ambitions are expected of all those in the Sixth Form. Beyond this, there is no ‘typical’ Sixth Former at Read, and pupils leave us to pursue a range of interests. Individuals are valued, and we appreciate the need to have a variety of strengths and personalities in order to create a thriving and diverse community.
All Sixth Formers receive support in choosing which further study, employment or training they will pursue when they leave school. In turn, many former pupils are happy to lend their support to the current cohort. As such, each member of the Sixth Form has access to a network of expertise and experience from people who can relate to the experiences of a Sixth Former at Read.
Post -16 study can be challenging, but it can also be extremely rewarding. It is often an essential bridge between your school days and adulthood, so you should choose carefully how and where to spend these years. Many Sixth Formers at Read School make lifelong friends and discover hidden talents or passions during these important years, which often pass deceptively quickly.
I very much look forward to meeting you,
Mrs Annette Oliver
Head of Sixth Form
