In LJS, our school day is carefully structured, with the core purpose of ensuring young minds are healthy, happy and geared up for a full day of action-packed learning.

LJS Children are welcome to arrive for morning activities at the Shipley Building between 8.30 am - 8.50 am. This early morning prep time allows parents flexibility during the school run, and gives children the opportunity to complete morning activities such as spelling revision and reading prior to the start of the school day.

At 8.50 am, all children are registered by their form tutors, important information for the school day is shared. After registration is complete, normal school lessons begin at 9.00 am

Children are encouraged to bring healthy snacks into school, to eat before the morning break, and prior to the extracurricular clubs in the afternoon. During both morning and afternoon breaks, our children enjoy some well-earned free play time in our purpose-built playground and playing field, which is used exclusively by our LJS students.

The formal school day ends at 3.30 pm; however, we also host optional after-school activities (Mon-Thurs), which prove to be incredibly popular with our pupils. Details of the clubs available for LJS students are published at the start of each term, with activities such as tag-rugby, engineering, book-clubs and mindfulness being highly sought after.

Wrap-around care may be available in some instances - please enquire via headspa@readschool.co.uk for more information.
